Machine Setup Operator – Davenport Machines

Main Responsibilities/authority:

• Set up and operate Davenport screw machines

Job Requirements:

• Set up and operate Davenport screw machines
• Troubleshoot and optimize new production to ensure efficient overall production
• Oversee the quality of parts produced in the machining cell
• Inspect parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications using proper measuring instruments
• Implement daily and weekly maintenance programs on machine shop equipment
• Assist in the progression of training and planned development of all machinists
• Setup machines on a flexible basis to ensure optimum output throughout the shop
• Effectively install cams, collets and work pieces in machines; follow proven layouts and processes
• Maintain machines, coolant and oil levels; Remove and replace dull/broken cutters
• Accurately measure finished work pieces using precision measuring equipment
• Read and interpret inspection results to make machine offset adjustments
• Monitor machine operation
• Work with others to resolve malfunctions and production errors
• Troubleshoot machine, and tooling problems
• Monitor machine maintenance and tool life
• Maintain accurate setup and production records
• Maintain a safe, clean work area.

Education and experience

• 3 years of experience in similar position
• Familiarity with inspection techniques
• Ability to use measuring equipment
• Blueprint reading skills
